I exchanged corporate boardrooms for realms of imagination.
After two decades in the fast-paced world of fashion retail, I reached a point many women quietly recognize. The ladder kept rising, but with every rung, I felt further from myself. So, I resigned, not because I failed, but because I had outgrown that world.
Motherhood changed my pace and sharpened my clarity. I wanted a life rooted in presence, creativity, and purpose, not just productivity.
Writing had always been there, waiting. It became a safe place where I could make sense of motherhood, marriage, friendships, and the constant recalibration life requires. What began as keepsake stories written just for my children grew into something more—stories rooted in real family moments, emotional honesty, and the small, everyday experiences that shape childhood and motherhood alike.
I never imagined that work would lead me here, an award-winning picture book author. What started quietly evolved into a calling, and eventually a career I chose to build with intention. I’m proud to be an independent author, embracing the freedom to create meaningful work on my own terms.
I believe we’re allowed to change paths, reinvent ourselves, and follow curiosity wherever it leads. We are multifaceted humans. And learning, growing, and trying something new is part of the story.
My Story
My Writing Journey
I write stories inspired by real family life, the tender, funny, and complicated moments that shape us. My picture books, Finding Bunny, Imagine That, and The Truth About Stepmoms, grew directly from experiences inside my own home, written with the hope that children feel understood and families feel encouraged, reflected, and celebrated.
As my writing evolved, so did my commitment to literacy beyond my own books. I co-founded A Pop of Indie: A Traveling Book Fair, a Michigan-based initiative that brings independently published children’s authors directly into elementary schools through free family literacy nights, writing workshops, and book fairs. At its heart, A Pop of Indie is about inspiring lifelong readers and supporting the creators who write the stories they love.
That commitment continues through my work across multiple writing and literacy spaces. I’m a writing contributor for Detroit Mom and a proud member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), where I stay connected to the evolving world of children’s literature while also engaging with broader conversations around motherhood, creativity, and reading.
As I move into 2026, I’m evolving again. Currently writing my first chapter book, launching a reflective blog focused on reading, writing, and creating. I’m also building a more intimate creative space through Patreon (coming soon).
Whether through books, classrooms, or the written word shared online, my goal remains the same: to create stories and spaces where curiosity thrives, and literacy feels alive.
